‘Everwood’ Father Tom Amandes, Resurfaces in Two Indies

July 24, 2006 SALT LAKE CITY, UT - For four successful years, Tom Amandes has been known as Everwood’s other father. In contrast to Treat Williams, Mr. Amandes’ “Dr. Harold Abbott” was known for his witty but often dry humour. ‘Everwood’ had its last season this year when the WB merged into the CW network.

The critically claimed family drama still has an enormous fan base. “Foreverwood”, the show’s last episode carried an impressive 4 million households. There have been numerous fan sites dedicated to the show, and loyalists have even staged a protest in a Burbank parking lot to try to revive the popular teen drama.

Barely a few months after the cancellation however, Tom Amandes, one of the most popular actors on the show, has become a hot commodity in the indie film scene. Known previously as “Elliot Ness” in the popular TV series “The Untouchables”, and for his turn as Claire Dane’s father in ‘Brokedown Palace’, Mr. Amandes recently wrapped production on “Bonneville” a “Thelma and Louise”-type storyline starring legendary actresses Joan Allen and Jessica Lange.

His next project is rumoured to be the role of “Senator Graham”, a father character in EAST RIVER, a gritty love triangle currently filming in New York City. Also starring (as his daughter) is Jessica Bohl, who’s first star turn in “You Are Alone” netted her Best Actress Awards at the Brooklyn Int’l Film Festival and the Chicago Int’l Film Festival.
